Levels of trust in NGOs are falling. Some argue that the corporatisation of large charities has weakened their accountability to the constituencies in which they operate. With new forms of citizen action flourishing, have charities become part of the very system they were set up to challenge? Will registered charities begin to dwindle, or even die out?
